The military officers, doctors, and medical staff are the second group of the hospital as the first group were sent off already earlier on November 19.

Addressing the ceremony, Rear Admiral Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army voiced his hope that the peacekeeping field hospital staffers will promote solidarity to fulfil their assigned tasks.

He expressed his belief that they will uphold the tradition of Vietnamese military medical force and promote the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, contributing to establishing the positon of Vietnam People’s Army among international friends.

Colonel Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, said the preparations of the level-2 field hospital have been made carefully with strong support from the United Nations and the host country.

Vietnam dispatched its first level-2 hospital to the UN mission in South Sudan in October 2018.

An official ceremony to welcome back and honour the returning peacekeepers will be held on December 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. During its one-year operation, Vietnam’s level-2 field hospital No.1 provided treatment for more than 2,000 patients, with many life-saving surgeries successfully conducted.
