Da Nang establishes friendship and cooperative relations with Australian city

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam’s Da Nang city and Australia’s Gold Coast City was inked at an online signing ceremony on June 11.

The event was co-chaired by the Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee, Huynh Duc Tho and the Mayor of the City of Gold Coast, Tom Tate.

At the event, Mayor Tom Tate highly lauded Da Nang’s development over the past years, stating that the MoU aimed to enhance strategic cooperation between the two cities in various fields such as education, healthcare, disaster management, trade, investment, technology, and renewable energy.

He expressed his hope to welcome Chairman Tho and Da Nang city’s working delegation to the Gold Coast to discuss more about future bilateral cooperation plans.

For his part, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho said that both Da Nang and the Gold Coast are dynamic coastal cities with a high potential for tourism development.

As Da Nang is facing certain challenges on urban development, transport, the environment and employment, he wishes to learn from the experiences of leaders of Gold Coast city in addressing the problems.
