The event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST), expects to attract the participation of more than 450 representatives from authorities, management agencies, businessmen, the Motion Picture Association of America as well as producers, directors, film studios, and press agencies in the US.

It hopes to welcome prominent American filmmakers and producers, including Oliver Stone, Phillip Noyce and Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Speaking at a press conference held in Hanoi on September 16, Deputy Minister of MoCST Ho An Phong said that the programme is among the key activities to advertise Vietnam's land, people, and culture to the world.

He stressed that Vietnam is an ideal destination for tourists and an attractive venue for the world's leading filmmakers, actors and actresses.

For his part, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper emphasised that there is no better way to promote mutual understanding than through cooperation between Vietnam and US film production companies.

The programme will include a working session with the US side to promote cooperation in tourism and cinema development, an exhibition space to promote the country, people and culture of Vietnam, and a workshop to introduce the potential of Vietnam's tourism and cinema.

The Vietnamese delegation will also visit and work with Google to discuss promoting Vietnamese tourism and cinema.
