Of great significance, the visit aims to continue to consolidate and promote the relationship between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, contributing to further deepening the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam and Cuba established diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960. The traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is a priceless asset initiated by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro and continuously nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Over the past 60 years, Vietnam and Cuba have always stood side by side, supported and helped each other.

In recent years, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has received attention, promotion and development in many fields.

In recent years, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has continued to be consolidated and developed in all fields. The close and trusting relationship between the two Parties and the two countries has continued to be consolidated. Defence cooperation has been enhanced through the effective implementation of signed documents and agreements as a pillar in the bilateral relationship.

The two countries pledged to make joint efforts to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, including increasing turnover and diversifying bilateral trade. The two sides also maintained collaboration and mutual support at multilateral organisations and forums, especially at the United Nations.

The relationship between the two National Assemblies maintains good development momentum in a more substantive and effective manner. The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba always attaches importance to the relationship with the National Assembly of Vietnam and appreciates the material and spiritual support that Vietnam has given to Cuba. The two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels.

The first meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was a great success, with the results being acknowledged by the two countries’ senior leaders and included in the Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement last September. This continues to affirm the determination of the two sides to realise the protocol on cooperation between the two parliaments and the contribution of parliamentary cooperation to further deepening the Vietnam-Cuba relationship.

The agencies of the two National Assemblies also have many activities to exchange information and professional experience in building and perfecting institutions and policies in their respective fields in flexible forms, making the relationship between the two National Assemblies more practical and effective.

The working visit to Vietnam of the President of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, occurred in the context of the two countries' relations continuing to develop well through all channels.

The visit affirmed the leadership of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba in relations with Vietnam. It continued to express the desire to receive support and assistance from Vietnam on issues of concern to Cuba.

Vietnam continued to affirm the consistent policy of the Party and State to always attach importance to the traditional solidarity and special friendship with Cuba. It wished to accompany, cooperate and develop with Cuba.

Vietnam also affirmed its consistent stance of persistently supporting Cuba's revolutionary cause and development path, as well as sharing Cuba's difficulties and challenges in the current period.

Through the visit, the two sides will continue to consolidate and expand cooperation in defence, security, economy, trade, and investment and coordinate to effectively implement signed documents and agreements, especially the Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement. This is also an opportunity to promote cooperation between localities and people's organisations of the two countries.

The working visit to Vietnam of President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez is expected to be a great success, contributing to further consolidating the traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, deepening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and making collaboration between the two National Assemblies increasingly effective and substantive.
