Over the past 90 years, under the leadership of the Party, being lovingly mentored and trained by Uncle Ho, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has step by step affirmed its revolutionary bravery, maintained a strong faith in the Party and the nation, gradually becoming a pioneer force, political nuclear organisation of the Vietnamese youth, and a reliable reserve contingent of the Party. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has always persevered and performed steadfastly in its position, functions and roles in the political system, turned difficulties and challenges into motivations, contributed to affirming, preserving and promoting the glorious traditions of the Vietnamese youth. The Youth Union at all levels have exerted efforts to create a suitable environment and conditions for union members and young people to show their passionate patriotism and pioneering will, volunteering to undertake difficult, new and completed jobs and excellently completing all assigned tasks. At the same time, it evoked great potential, the spirit of inquisitiveness, industriousness, creativity, solidarity, readiness to master modern science and technology, bravery, integration confidence and aspiration to build a prosperous and happy country, of the young generation in a new age.
Promoting their glorious traditions, the Youth Union at all levels have been increasingly active in researching and synchronously renovating the contents and modes of operation; actively exploring new directions, in accordance with the development laws of the times and the needs and aspirations of youths through revolutionary action movements such as “Creative Youth”, “Volunteer Youth”, “Pioneering to protect the Fatherland”, etc. With a solid foundation based on creativity, perseverance, decisiveness, and a priority to focus on the grassroots, the Youth Union has taught politics, ideology, ethics and lifestyles suitable for many different youths, in association with promoting the study and adherence to Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; protecting the rights and satisfying the legitimate interests of young people; attracting, gathering, educating, training and promoting the role of the youth.
Recently, some young people have been attracted by others to follow negative trends, especially on social networks. This is a manifestation of the departure from the revolutionary ideal, a lack of stability in political bravery, pursuing a selfish lifestyle, irresponsibility, and insensitivity to the difficulties and challenges of the nation. More worryingly, crime and social evils among young people are still increasing. Youths with disabilities still faces many difficulties in life and employment. Part of the reason is that the role of the Youth Union is sometimes still fuzzy and passive. Some activities of the Youth Union, especially at grassroots level, are still lacking in creativity and effectiveness.
With the limitations, difficulties and challenges mentioned above, the Youth Union at all levels should continue to explore, research, persevere and be more drastic in renewing the content of action programmes, in the direction of matching the needs and psychology of the youth. Special attention should be paid to launching movements that evoke the traditions of passionate patriotism, revolutionary pioneering, solidarity, fondness for learning, and passion for creativity of Vietnamese youth generations. It is also necessary to continue to consolidate and build strong political and ideological youth organisations, attracting a large number of members and young people to participate in activities; make better use of the strengths of the internet and social networks to gather, orient and consolidate youth's firm belief in the path that our Party has chosen. Creative content and new features in youth union work and movements are the premise for youth union members and youth to be ready to take on challenges, dare to think, dare to do, and strive for the socio-economic development and protection of the independence and sovereignty of the Fatherland, proudly stepping forward under the glorious banner of the Party. The specific effects of the Youth Union's action programme will create the best environment to care for and protect the legitimate rights, interests and needs of the young generation.
With the responsibility of mentoring and directing, Party committees and authorities at all levels should trust and create favourable conditions, regularly care, listen to and share in difficulties and problems, and encourage the Youth Union and the young people to strive and bring into full play their best capacities, qualifications and creativity. Ministries and sectors also need to closely coordinate with the Youth Union organisations in creating a favourable environment, conditions, and an open mechanism for young people to show their talents, start their businesses confidently, assert themselves and become useful citizens, making an important contribution to building and mastering a beautiful, prosperous and modern country, thereby quickly bringing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress to life.
