This event is part of a regular series of Viet Nam Local Week/Day programmes being held at the Viet Nam Pavilion during EXPO 2025, which runs from April 13 to October 13.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bui Thuy Phuong, Member of the Standing Board of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Organisation Commission, emphasised that the Quang Ninh Week at EXPO 2025 presents an opportunity to showcase to international friends an image of Quang Ninh as a convergence of "heritage – innovation – integration – sustainable development". The province seeks to strengthen cooperation with Japanese localities, especially the Kansai region, while inviting strategic investors in key sectors such as smart tourism, clean energy, and processing and manufacturing industries.

According to Bui Thuy Phuong, Quang Ninh currently hosts 218 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, including 15 from Japan. Japan is also one of Viet Nam’s key strategic partners, with a strong presence of major high-tech enterprises such as Sumitomo and JFE Steel.

The Quang Ninh Week at EXPO 2025 features a diverse programme, including video screenings and photo exhibitions highlighting the province’s attractive tourist destinations, displays of outstanding and high-quality local One Commune One Product (OCOP) goods, tea ceremony demonstrations, and business forums.

Tran Nhat Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Deputy General Commissioner of Viet Nam at EXPO 2025, remarked that EXPO 2025 Osaka, with its theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, serves as a meaningful global forum where nations come together to share visions, showcase achievements, and seek solutions to common human challenges.

“The Viet Nam Pavilion acts as a gateway for international friends to gain deeper insights into the country, its people, culture, and development potential,” Hoang stated.

EXPO 2025 also marks the first World Expo where the Viet Nam Pavilion – operated by the Department of International Cooperation – is implementing a special programme to successively spotlight outstanding localities across Viet Nam.

Previously, in April 2025, the Viet Nam Pavilion collaborated with the Hue City Department of Culture and Sports to host the announcement ceremony for the Visit Viet Nam Year – Hue 2025 initiative.

Following Quang Ninh, June will see Quang Nam and Binh Phuoc as the next provinces to work with the Pavilion to launch vibrant cultural, tourism, and investment promotion activities at EXPO 2025.
