Responsible AI: The capability CEOs can no longer ignore

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a core driver of competitiveness, productivity, and organisational resilience. For CEOs and senior leaders, the challenge is no longer whether to adopt AI, but how to do so at scale—safely, responsibly, and with confidence.

Responsible AI: The capability CEOs can no longer ignore

This is the context behind the Responsible AI course developed by the The National Board of Digital Economy and Society Office (BDE) as part of the ASEAN AI Transition Innovation Framework (AITIF). AITIF is a regional initiative designed to help organisations navigate AI adoption in a structured and credible way, balancing innovation with trust and governance.

AITIF delivers two strategic outputs for leaders. The first is the AI Literacy Framework (AILF), which defines the skills and knowledge required across roles—from general workforce and technical teams to managers and executives. The second is the AI Readiness Assessment Tool (AIRAT), which enables organisations to objectively assess their preparedness for AI adoption across strategy, people, governance, data, and platforms. Together, AILF and AIRAT answer two critical executive questions: Do we have the right capabilities? and Are we ready to deploy AI responsibly at scale?

Underneath the AI Literacy Framework sits the Responsible AI course. It translates AILF’s skills and knowledge into practical executive-relevant learning. Delivered through five concise modules, the course equips leaders and teams with a clear understanding of AI risks, governance expectations, and real-world practices for responsible use—covering everyday AI decisions, enterprise-scale governance, and the future of human–AI collaboration.

Importantly for CEOs, the course is outcomes-oriented. Participants are assessed across three readiness levels—Responsible AI Citizen, Worker, Practitioner, and Leader—ensuring that learning directly supports organisational maturity, trust, and long-term value creation.

In an environment where AI-related risks can rapidly become reputational, regulatory, and strategic risks, AITIF offers a coherent pathway forward. Anchored by BDE, and integrating AIRAT for readiness, AILF for capability, and the Responsible AI course for execution, the initiative provides leaders with a practical blueprint for sustainable AI adoption.

The Responsible AI course is open and free of charge. For CEOs and senior executives seeking to future-proof their organisations while maintaining trust, accountability, and strategic control, this is an opportunity to lead—not follow—in the AI era.
