Rough start for U19 Vietnam at Asian football championships

Vietnam’s U19 football team got off to a bad start at the AFC U19 Championship finals in Myanmar, losing 0-6 to the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 9.

U19 Vietnam could not make any miracles against defending Asian champion, RoK.

Just before half-time, Lee Jeon-bin scored the first goal for the tournament’s current champion, the RoK. The last goal was scored by Kim Gun-hee in the ninety-second minute during extra time.

The Vietnamese team drew Group C, the competition’s strongest group, made up of China, Japan and the RoK.

The Japanese team will be an extremely tough opponent for Vietnam, which has won all the previous Japan-Vietnam encounters so far. Their team for the Myanmar competition comprises nine of the players who beat Vietnam 1-0 in the AFF U19 Cup last month.
