The event, co-organised by the Viet Nam–Russia Friendship Association and the Military Library, formed part of a series of activities celebrating the 108th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution, the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Russia, and the 75th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam–Russia Friendship Association.
The launch was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy, the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Ha Noi, leaders of the Viet Nam–Russia Friendship Association, veterans of the Saigon Special Forces, military generals, diplomats, cultural figures, and numerous readers with an interest in history and war memoirs.
The book vividly portrays the courage, intelligence, and indomitable spirit of the Saigon Special Forces and commandos during the resistance war against the US. It was translated from the original Vietnamese text into Russian by translator Vladimir Serbin and editor Ida Andreeva, with additional historical annotations to help Russian readers better understand the context.
Nguyen Dang Phat, Vice President of the Viet Nam–Russia Friendship Association, remarked that introducing Vietnamese literary works to Russian audiences is a meaningful cultural exchange activity that deepens mutual understanding and strengthens the enduring friendship between the two peoples.
