For many years, the Ha Noi Book Fair has become a prestigious annual reading culture event, held on the occasion of the Liberation of the Capital. This is a festival of culture and knowledge, a meeting place for publishers, authors, and readers, contributing to communicating the historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions of the nation and the civilised thousand-year-old capital.
Although the media has become increasingly diverse, books and reading culture still play an important role. It is always a source of invaluable knowledge, a tool and a means of creating world perception.
This year’s fair offers readers new experiences through digital-transformation applications in publishing and cultural industries in an impressive and creative space. Visitors and readers can learn about publications, Thang Long – Ha Noi, the city’s long-standing tradition of education and mandarin examinations, especially the thousand-year-old civilised Thang Long Bookcase and the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Bookcase with online version, multifunctional books, question & answer interaction with AI Turtle, virtual-reality technology experiences, and GIS-based interaction to look up the latest information on 34 provinces and cities and view convenient digital maps.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Truong Viet Dung emphasised that developing the reading culture, particularly in regards to science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, is a practical mission and action in order to build a civilised, cultured, and modern capital. It contributes to realising the goal of building Ha Noi into a hub for cultural value convergence and upholding, creating an internal strength for sustainable development, as set in Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
On the occasion, the city has also called on publishers, book companies, and participating organisations, as well as readers, to donate books to public libraries in the capital, thereby nurturing a love and a habit of reading in the community, promoting lifelong self-learning spirit.
Responding to the call of the Ha Noi People’s Committee, publishing houses, readers, organisations, and individuals have donated 100 million VND to this meaningful programme.
This year’s fair attracted many well-known publishers and enterprises in the cultural publishing sector.
During the event, there are various activities such as exchanging with authors and thematic seminars with famous writers; visitors and readers can listen to their sharing and explore fresh perspectives on culture, history, and life.
At the fair, creative check-in spaces designed with motifs of old and modern Ha Noi are hoped to become an attractive destination for people and tourists.
The Ha Noi Book Fair 2025 will run until October 5.
