Bringing books to apartment blocks and boarding houses was a highlight of the recent sixth Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Book Fair in 2026. From books passed hand to hand to newly established reading cabinets, these initiatives have helped to nurture a deeper reading culture across the city.

In the military environment, soldiers do not always have the opportunity to visit a library. For that reason, in recent years, the military library system has proactively brought books to troops through a variety of flexible models, such as training‑field bookcases, newspaper boxes, rotating book exchanges between units, and reading clubs. Thanks to these simple yet substantive measures, the culture of reading within the armed forces has been steadily strengthened.

After eight seasons of organization, the National Book Awards have increasingly affirmed their position as a prestigious prize of the publishing sector in Viet Nam. Innovations in the award structure, evaluation criteria and ways of reaching readers contribute to honoring works of academic value while opening expectations of widely spreading reading culture in social life.

The 2026 Lunar New Year Book Street Festival, held in Ho Chi Minh City from February 15 to 22, drew more than one million visitors over eight days, generating 8.2 billion VND in revenue and selling over 83,700 books. These figures highlight the strong appeal of a cultural space when organised with professionalism and creativity.
