Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang attended the event.

The section, running through Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong, ending in Binh Phuoc province, has a total length of 663km.

The project was divided into two parts including the 110km section from Dak Zon Bridge (Dak Glei district, Kon Tum province) to Tan Canh commune (Dak To district) and the 553km from Tan Canh commune to Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province.

Addressing the ceremony, General Quang asked the Ministry of Transport and leaders of Central Highland provinces to promote effective measures to minimise traffic accidents on the road as the highway has great significance for the development of the country, particularly for the Central Highland provinces and Binh Phuoc.

The road connects the Central Highlands with two major economic centres including Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, reducing traveling time between the region and the south.

The completion of the section is expected to contribute to traffic safety and economic-social development of the Central Highland provinces as well as ensuring defence and security in addition to improving the quality of life of local ethnic minority groups.
