Speaker of Malaysia’s House of Representatives pays official visit to Vietnam

Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul and his spouse begin an official visit to Vietnam from October 22, at the invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Accompanying the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives on his visit are his spouse, Puan Sri Datin Noraini Binti Mohd; Senior Private Secretary Ahmad Farhan Bin Mohd Khalid; Assistant Mohamed Iqbal Bin Johari, and Delegation Secretary Augustine Leonard Anak Jen.

Tan Sri Dato’ Johari Bin Abdul is a formally trained administrative and diplomatic officer. His political career began in 1992 when he became one of the founding members of the People’s Justice Party (KEADILAN).

In 2008, he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Sungai Petani and held this position until October 2022. From 2013 to 2018, he served as the leader of the KEADILAN delegation in Parliament, as well as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Security, and a member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly.

He was the leader of the Opposition of Kedah from October 2022 until his resignation on December 13, 2022, to assume the role of Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives on December 19, 2022.

On November 18, 2023, in recognition of his extensive experience in governance, democracy, political science, and strategic management, he was awarded an honourary Doctorate in Management by UNITAR International University.
