According to the Ministry of Finance, State budget revenue totalled nearly 55 trillion VND (2.1 billion USD) in the first 15 days of August 2026. Cumulatively, from the beginning of the year to August 15, total revenue exceeded 1.9 quadrillion VND, equivalent to 76.2% of the estimate.
The Ministry of Finance said that the pace of State budget revenue collection had remained steady. Several revenue items recorded relatively high performance against the estimates, with revenue from three economic sectors — State-owned enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises and the non-State economic sector — reaching 83.3%; revenue from import-export activities reaching 79.2%; and revenue from lottery activities reaching 73.3%.
On the expenditure side, total State budget expenditure exceeded 127.5 trillion VND (4.88 billion USD) in the first half of August. Cumulatively, as of August 15, total expenditure had reached nearly 1.5 quadrillion VND, equivalent to 47.4% of the estimate.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the State budget had ensured funding for socio-economic development, recovery from natural disasters and epidemics, national defence and security, State administrative operations, and the repayment of debts falling due.
Salaries and salary-related payments were also made promptly to beneficiaries, contributing to the implementation of social welfare policies.
In the first 15 days of August, borrowing to finance the central budget deficit and repay principal amounted to nearly 15.8 trillion VND (604.78 million USD). Cumulatively, as of August 15, borrowing had exceeded 223.2 trillion VND (8.54 billion USD), equivalent to 23.3% of the estimate.
