Students inspire ancient Vietnamese music through "living museum" model

A group of students majoring in Communications and Event Organisation from FPT Polytechnic College planned, staged, and implemented a programme following the "living museum" model, recreating many folk Vietnamese singing forms such as ca tru, xam, ancient cheo, and dien xuong (singing and talking).

Taking place over two days, April 6 and 7, at the Bich Cau Dao Quan historical and cultural relic site (Dong Da District, Hanoi City), the "Kinh Ky ancient music" event includes a series of experiential activities for visitors, such as: enjoying folk music, drinking tea, writing calligraphy, trying on ancient costumes, and playing musical instruments and folk games.

Notably, the event also features the participation of many outsanding artisans in the traditional arts and culture world, such as: Meritorious Artist Van Mai, Meritorious Artist Van Truc, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Mai, and Meritorious artist Quoc Nha.

With the companionship of experienced experts, the event recreated some types of folk Vietnamese singing, including Ca tru, Xam, ancient opera, and dien xuong, thus simulating the space, historical context, and restoration of a system of artifacts and historical figures to enhance the experience for visitors.
