An AFD-funded project in Dien Bien province aims to improve the management and efficient use of water resources and strengthen water regulation between river basins, helping secure water supplies for production and daily life while improving resilience to drought, erosion, flooding and climate change.

The Bac Ai hydropower project has a designed capacity of 1,200 MW, comprising four turbines of 300 MW each, with a total investment of 21.1 trillion VND (802.5 million USD).

A ceremony was held on October 24 to mark the French Development Agency (AFD)’s 30th anniversary in Viet Nam, recognising its contributions to the country’s socio-economic growth through numerous development assistance projects.
