Amid deeper integration, Vietnamese agriculture is facing increasingly stringent requirements on quality and sustainable development. To overcome challenges and seize opportunities, cooperatives need to promote their role in linking farmers with enterprises and organising production along value chains.

Viet Nam ranks among the world’s leading agricultural exporters. Yet the highest-value segments of the global agricultural value chain remain largely beyond the country’s reach. This is one of the greatest paradoxes facing Vietnamese agriculture today: strong export performance does not necessarily equate to genuine agricultural strength.
