Agriculture continues to serve as a pillar of Vinh Long’s economy, underpinned by its large-scale production areas and a wide range of agricultural products that are competitive in international markets.

The Dong Thap government, in coordination with Blue Ocean Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company, held a ceremony on April 13 to mark the export of the first shipment of Dong Thap pomelos to Australia.

In the first two months of 2026, exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products reached 11.3 billion USD, up 17.1% compared with the same period in 2025. However, amid geopolitical fluctuations around the world, particularly the conflict in the Middle East, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has developed response scenarios to limit risks and maintain the sector’s growth momentum.

From late 2025 to early 2026, many member countries of the World Trade Organisation issued numerous draft and enforceable legal documents on food safety and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures that may affect Viet Nam’s agricultural, forestry and fisheries exports.
