Viet Nam’s agro-forestry-fisheries sector is on track to hit a record 67 billion USD in export revenue this year, provided it sustains a monthly pace of 5 billion USD through the remaining months, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien told the ministry’s regular press briefing on October 6.

The European Union (EU) is emerging as a promising market for Viet Nam’s agro-forestry-fishery products, especially amid impacts from the US’s reciprocal tariff policy, but challenges remain as the sector has to overcome numerous barriers related to technology, quality, logistics, and product development strategies, said insiders.

Viet Nam’s total agro-forestry-fishery trade in the first half of 2025 is estimated at 57 billion USD, with exports reaching 33.5 billion USD, up 14.3% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Agriculture has affirmed its role as an important pillar of the economy, helping build an independent and self-reliant economy with active, intensive, and effective integration into the world and bring a prosperous and happy life to people, according to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
