Viet Nam’s hosting of the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Ha Noi Convention) marks a major step in its efforts in global integration on cybersecurity and financial security, underscoring the country’s determination to strengthen its defences against money laundering and other high-tech crimes.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc highlighted the importance of implementing anti-money laundering measures in transactions on real estate and virtual currency trading platforms while chairing a meeting of the National Anti-Money Laundering Steering Committee on October 15.

Viet Nam is piloting a digital asset market for the first time. The most important goal of this pilot is not short-term profit, but rather to serve as a test for the State to improve its legal and policy framework.
