With its advantages in biodiversity and indigenous medicinal resources, Viet Nam has strong potential to develop biotechnology products under a national brand. However, further solutions are needed to develop and effectively utilise these unique resources to create products with high economic value and international competitiveness.

From lands once deemed barren and difficult to cultivate, biotechnology-based agricultural models are gradually bringing about tangible change. Not only do they help reduce costs, increase yields, and enhance the value of farm produce, but farms growing passion fruit, strawberries and tomatoes are also opening up new pathways for green, sustainable agriculture.

The demand for biotechnology human resources in Viet Nam is shifting strongly from prioritising pure research to requiring interdisciplinary competencies linked to production and the market.

Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) convened the 20th meeting of the Viet Nam-RoK Joint Economic Committee in Seoul on November 14, aiming to review progress since the last gathering in 2022 and chart out new directions to deepen cooperation across a wide range of fields.
