The Prime Minister’s Official Dispatch No. 38/CD-TTg (dated May 5, 2026), which focuses on vigorous implementation of measures to combat, prevent, and handle intellectual property rights infringements, requires decisive action to fight, prevent, and address violations of intellectual property rights.

The government has just issued Resolution No. 397/NQ-CP on the governmental action plan for preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement until 2030.

The Ministry of Health will propose amendments to current regulations to increase penalties and enhance deterrence against the production and trading of counterfeit cosmetics, following violations recently uncovered at Mailisa Beauty Clinic and MK Skincare.

In May 2025, authorities across Viet Nam launched a nationwide campaign to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. This is an urgent and drastic action in the face of counterfeit and low-quality goods threatening consumers.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 23 chaired a national teleconference to review the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property rights infringement in the first half of 2025 and conclude the peak combat campaign.
