Viet Nam welcomes and supports Cuba and the US engaging in dialogue to seek solutions to differences in their bilateral relations, based on respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and fundamental principles of international law.

Viet Nam is committed to working closely with Cuba to implement cooperation programmes and projects, delivering tangible benefits to businesses and people in both countries, a senior Party official has said.

Viet Nam’s election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure is an important event affirming and consolidating the power of the Vietnamese people while implementing the tasks set out by the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), according to Cuban political scientist Luis Manuel Arce Isaac.

Viet Nam is deeply concerned about a new measure announced by the US to impose additional tariffs on goods from countries supplying oil to Cuba which will have serious impacts on Cuba’s economic and social activities as well as the lives of its people, Spokeswoman of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said on February 2.

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam To Lam and State President Luong Cuong on December 31 jointly sent a congratulatory message to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Caribbean country's National Day (January 1, 1959 – January 1, 2026).

Viet Nam Television (VTV), in collaboration with Cubavisión Internacional (CVI), will air a special documentary series titled “Cuba and Viet Nam: Brothers by Choice” to mark the 65th anniversary of bilateral ties.
