Cultural heritage can hardly remain vibrant if it exists only in people’s memories or conservation records. At the grassroots level, folk culture and arts clubs are therefore creating spaces where communities can practise and pass on traditions, bringing traditional cultural values back into everyday life.

Lang Son is a mountainous border province endowed with the rich and diverse folk culture of ethnic minority communities such as the Tay, Nung, Dao, and H’Mong. In recent years, the province’s cultural sector has implemented various measures to improve the preservation of the folk culture, thereby promoting indigenous values for socio-economic development.

As a completely free event celebrating International Children's Day (June 1st), the programme “Childhood Kites” offers children and their families a chance to step away from the fast pace of city life and digital screens, immersing themselves in the soothing sounds of kite flutes on the rural fields.
