Da Nang tourism moves towards a green, sustainable transition

Da Nang is positioning green tourism development as a key pillar, with investment in sustainable infrastructure, public transport, and the restructuring of visitor flows as the foundation. At the same time, it is promoting ecotourism, community-based tourism, and agricultural tourism linked to OCOP to ease pressure on central attractions and increase value for local communities.

Developing ‘green tourism’ needs to be practical

In recent years, a wave of “green tourism” has been sweeping across travel destinations in Viet Nam. From bamboo homestays in Moc Chau, rubbish-free trekking on Co To Island, to “back-to-the-village” experience in Hoi An, everything is being branded as “green”. Yet “green” risks becoming a fragile façade if it remains only at the level of appearance.
