Amid the solemn space of the Hue Imperial Citadel - once the centre of power of the Nguyen dynasty - layers of vermilion lacquer and shimmering gilding, ceramic and porcelain inlays on ancient horizontal lacquered boards and screens, and intricate carved motifs, are not only traces of a bygone golden era but also the crystallisation of the skilled hands, intellect, and perseverance of silent artisans. They do not merely restore structures but revive historical memory.
The People’s Committee of central Hue city on August 11 issued a plan to restore the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) imperial throne, a nationally recognised treasure.
The Hue Association of Historical Science on June 24 held a workshop on historical figures who played a role in defending national sovereignty at the Thuan An Estuary and the Hue Imperial Capital from 1883 to 1885.
