Seafood exports rise 13% in January

Viet Nam’s seafood exports reached an estimated 874 million USD in January, marking a 13% year-on-year increase, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Viet Nam’s seafood sector aims for total seafood output of more than 10 million tonnes in 2026, up 0.6% from 2025, according to Tran Dinh Luan, Director General of the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on December 23 stressed the need to standardise data across agencies and localities on issues flagged by the European Commission (EC), as Viet Nam seeks to have the EC’s “yellow card” against its seafood exports lifted.
Viet Nam’s total seafood export value is expected to reach around 9–9.2 billion USD in 2025, down nearly 10% compared to 2024, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
