During the 2021–2025 period, the Vietnamese economy experienced a resilient recovery and remarkable development amidst a complex, unpredictable, and unprecedented global situation, with many factors beyond forecast, especially the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued Official Dispatch No. 165/CD-TTg on continued efforts to maintain macro-economic stability, control inflation, foster growth, ensure economic balances, and improve citizens' living standards.

The Vietnamese economy achieved its strongest performance in over a decade, with gross domestic product (GDP) rising by 7.52% in the first half of the year, the highest since 2011, according to the Ministry of Finance’s National Statistics Office of Viet Nam (NSO).

Vietnam recorded year-on-year growth of 3.15% in the 2022 consumer price index (CPI) while core inflation increased 2.59%, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said on December 29.

Opportunities and challenges are still intertwined in the recovery and development of the Vietnamese economy; however, the positive trend has spread more widely across all fields and industries in the second half of 2022.
