Ten remarkable events of National Assembly in 2023

The National Assembly Office has announced 10 significant issues and events of the National Assembly in 2023 on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the first National Assembly General Election (January 6, 1946–2024).

1. The NA successfully organised five sessions (including three extraordinary sessions) to meet urgent requirements, making important contributions to stabilising and developing the country as well as promoting international integration.

2. The NA chose not to pass the draft Land Law (amended) nor the draft Law on Credit Institutions (amended) to provide more time to improve the laws and consider the approval of the laws at the next NA meeting.

3. The NA approved a resolution on applying additional corporate income tax according to global anti-base erosion rules and approved the establishment of the Investment Support Fund to legislate international commitments and create favourable environment to support businesses.

4. For the first time, a National Conference on the implementation of laws and resolutions of the 15th NA was successfully organised to promptly bring the laws and resolutions into life.

5. A general review of the system of legal documents in all areas was conducted nationwide to detect inadequacies and ensure the building of a synchronous, unified, and feasible legal system.

6. Supervision activities of the National Assembly were strengthened with many improvements and innovations to improve the efficiency of law building and enforcement.

7. The NA adopted many important socio-economic and state budget decisions, as well as on other major national issues, contributing to promoting economic recovery and creating resources for national sustainable development.

8. The 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians was an outstanding success, marking a highlight in the most exciting year of Vietnam’s parliamentary diplomacy.

9. The NA successfully organised the first Dien Hong Awards 2023, creating an environment and a strong motivation for journalists to create higher quality works about the activities of the NA.

10. The first “Children’s National Assembly” hypothetical session was held to create a venue for children to express their voices, thoughts, and aspirations while motivating their dreams and ambitions as the future owners of the country.
