Fifty years ago, amid the heroic atmosphere of the final advance to liberate the south, the Vietnam People's Navy swiftly mobilised forces, closely monitored the situation, seized the situation, and launched a bold and surprise offensive to liberate the islands of the Truong Sa Archipelago — a region of strategic political, military, economic, and cultural significance.
The liberation of these islands was a strategic victory, reflecting the foresight and initiative of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Navy Command. It made an important contribution to the nation’s great triumph in liberating the south and achieving national reunification.
