The bridge, crossing over the Soai Rap River, has received investment of VND1.43 trillion (US$67.5 million) under a Build-Operate-Transfer model.

The bridge is to be 2.6 kilometres in length and 12 metres in width, accommodating four lanes for vehicle travel.

Once it becomes operational in 2015, My Loi Bridge is expected to ease the congestion on National Highway 50 and improve overall transport capacity.

It will also contribute to regional socio-economic development as well as to security and defence in the southern coastal provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
