After the state-level welcome ceremony held at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia, on October 19, with a 19-gun salute and an honour guard review ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian president, held at the Nusantara Building in the Senayan legislative complex in Jakarta on October 20.

More than 30 heads of states and high-ranking leaders of other countries attended the event.

In his inaugural address, Prabowo said he will prioritise the interests of the Indonesian people, even those not voting for him, calling on the people to stay united to make the development dream come true.

He pledged that the Government of Indonesia’s leadership is not for any individuals or groups, but for the people and the country’s highest interests.

On this occasion, Xuan had bilateral meetings with attending leaders from Brunei, the Philippines, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Laos, China, Russia, Thailand, and New Zealand.

In the exchange with Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, the leaders of the countries highly appreciated and valued the good relations with Vietnam, expressing their desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, tourism, people-to-people exchange.

* Earlier, on the evening of October 19, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a meeting with representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta, ASEAN Secretariat, Permanent Mission of Vietnam to ASEAN, and Vietnamese community and businesses in Indonesia.

The Vice President highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Indonesia in recent times as well as the sentiments of the people towards the homeland, while emphasising the policy of great national unity of our party and state. She affirmed that Vietnamese people abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Indonesia, are an inseparable part and an important resource and factor in the process of building and developing the country.

The Vice President also emphasised the important role of the young generation of Vietnamese people abroad in the future development of the country, especially in the context that Vietnam is facing a new historical starting point, a new era — the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
