This bonds are clearly reflected in the thoughts of two great leaders - Liberator Simón Bolívar and President Ho Chi Minh.
Wimmer shared his deep admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people's resilient and heroic struggle against colonials and imperialists for national independence. He noted that President Ho Chi Minh's thought has been the lodestar for Vietnam's victories, especially its significant achievements during the 'Doi moi' (renewal) process, for the goal of rich people, a strong nation, and democracy, equality, and civilisation.
Speaking on the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army, Wimmer highlighted that President Ho Chi Minh was not only an exceptional leader but also a military strategist of genius. He directly founded and trained the Vietnam People's Army, a force renowned for its undefeated record and remarkable victories that “resounded across the five continents and shook the world.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Dr. Wimmer stated that Vietnam will celebrate numerous significant events, including the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). For his part, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his gratitude for the solidarity and affection shown by Venezuelan leaders, people, and the CAVV towards Vietnam.
