Over the 75 years since Viet Nam and China officially established diplomatic relations, despite the many twists and turns of history, cooperation has consistently been the mainstream of bilateral relations.
The fact that the two countries’ revolutionary forerunners stood side by side through thick and thin has become a noble symbol of international solidarity, laying a solid foundation for the friendship and cooperation that continue to flourish today.
Under the leadership of the two Communist Parties, the peoples of Viet Nam and China have extended to each other invaluable affection, profound support, and heartfelt assistance. This contributed to the glorious victories of national liberation struggles and the subsequent processes of nation-building and development in both countries.
The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Viet Nam’s National Day not only underscores the immense historical significance and marks an important milestone in the history of national construction and defence. It is also an opportunity to honour past generations and the precious support of the international community for the Vietnamese people’s resistance, among whom Chinese friends played an indispensable part.
Zhao Leji’s participation in this major event demonstrates China’s special regard for the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and for the building of a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, for the happiness of the peoples of both countries, and for the cause of peace and progress for humankind.
As close neighbours once united in revolutionary struggle through immense hardship, Viet Nam and China share a common understanding that the stable development of bilateral relations is the fundamental and long-term interest of both peoples. With political trust continually strengthened, bilateral cooperation has become increasingly diverse and effective, producing tangible results across many fields. Among these, cooperation between the two legislative bodies has emerged as a highlight, serving as an important pillar within the overall framework of the Viet Nam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The two sides have signed new cooperation agreements between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress, establishing a cooperation mechanism headed by the leaders of both legislatures, the highest-level inter-parliamentary mechanism that China maintains with any country today.
Regular parliamentary contacts, exchanges, and cooperation activities have created channels for frequent policy dialogue. Viet Nam and China also work closely together in multilateral parliamentary forums, sharing views on global issues.
The fact that the top leader of the Chinese National People’s Congress is paying an official visit to Viet Nam on this occasion, and co-chairing for the first time the session of the Cooperation Committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress with the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, represents a significant milestone in bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
In the face of new circumstances, both Viet Nam and China must strive to turn challenges into opportunities, laying firm foundations for entering a new era of development. Reflecting on the proud history of their enduring friendship, the two countries are determined more than ever to walk side by side on the path ahead, elevating Viet Nam-China relations into a model of practical and effective cooperation between two neighbouring socialist countries, bringing tangible benefits to their peoples.
May Zhao Leji’s official visit to Viet Nam to participate in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Viet Nam’s National Day, and co-chair the first meeting of the Cooperation Committee between the two legislatures, be a great success, continuing to write the story of successful and effective cooperation between the two nations.
