During the visit, the delegation held talks with the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, one of Europe's oldest institutions dedicated to the teaching and research of Eastern studies.

Founded in 1732, the university has particular strengths in languages, culture, history, area studies and international relations, with a strong focus on Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Anh and the university’s leadership discussed directions for future cooperation, focusing on expanding the teaching of Vietnamese in Italy and developing Italian language programmes in Viet Nam.

They also discussed promoting research and exchanges in international relations, as well as strengthening links among lecturers, students and educational institutions in both countries.

The two sides also agreed to explore establishing a “Viet Nam Corner” at the university, providing a dedicated space to showcase Viet Nam’s people, history and culture.

The facility would also support teaching, learning and research on Viet Nam, helping to raise the country’s profile among Italian students and the wider academic community.

Both sides reaffirmed that cooperation in education, language and culture serves as a lasting bridge that enhances mutual understanding between the peoples of Viet Nam and Italy, while further strengthening the Viet Nam-Italy strategic partnership.

During the visit, the Vietnamese Embassy presented the university’s Department of Vietnamese Studies with a collection of books.

The books will serve as valuable learning resources, helping students improve their Vietnamese language proficiency while gaining a deeper understanding of the country’s history, culture and society.
