The 2026 Asian Dancesport Championships was held in Ho Chi Minh City from July 8 to 12. Jointly organised by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) and the Viet Nam Gymnastics Federation, the event drew thousands of athletes from around 30 countries and territories, competing across the Asian Championship events, international open competitions, and youth age-group categories.

This marked the first time that Viet Nam had hosted a dancesport event of such scale, having secured the hosting rights ahead of several regional contenders.

Following five days of intense competition, Viet Nam claimed five gold, one silver, and five bronze medals in the Asian Championship events for couples.

Among the standout performers, the pairs of Phan Hien (Minh Truong)–Thu Huong and Vu Hoang Anh Minh–Nguyen Truong Xuan each won two gold medals. Ngoc An–To Uyen contributed one gold and one silver, while Trung Thuc–Ngoc Anh, Nam Anh–Anh Phuong, and Quoc Bao–Minh Chau each secured bronze medals.

Vietnamese athletes also dominated the Asian Women's Solo Championship events.

In the Youth category, Hoang Ngoc emerged as the star performer with six gold medals, while Ta Lien Giang secured four silver and one bronze. Ha Khanh Phuong won three bronze medals, with Phuong Trinh adding another bronze.

In the Junior category, Le Mai Thu delivered an outstanding performance to claim five gold medals. In the Juvenile II division, Nguyen An Nhien earned four gold and one silver, Hoang Misaki secured one gold, and Khanh Ngoc collected four bronze medals.

Earlier, Viet Nam's young athletes had also made a strong impression in the youth events. The pair of Nguyen Minh Cuong and Do Tran Linh San — with Minh Cuong being the son of renowned dancesport grandmasters Khanh Thi and Phan Hien — captured eight gold, two silver, and one bronze medal in the Juvenile II category.

With a final tally of 21 gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals, Viet Nam topped the medal table at the 2026 Asian Dancesport Championships.

Taiwan (China) placed second overall, followed by Hong Kong (China) in third, with China and Malaysia completing the top five.

The result further reinforces Viet Nam's growing stature in Asian dancesport and reflects the effectiveness of the country's athlete development system across multiple age groups in recent years.
