At a reception in Ha Noi on March 19 for Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Politburo member and Chairman of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Trinh Van Quyet affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam always attach importance to and seek to strengthen its special friendship with Cuba.
He highlighted that the bilateral ties, forged through shared revolutionary struggles, have continued to grow in both countries’ national development and defence, becoming a rare and exemplary model in international relations. Viet Nam takes pride in this loyal relationship and is determined to further promote its legacy and cooperation achievements, he added.
Quyet, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee, called for expanding comprehensive cooperation in line with the two countries’ potential and political trust. He noted that Viet Nam is implementing directives of Party General Secretary To Lam to boost practical collaboration with Cuba, particularly in agriculture and renewable energy, thus helping to enhance production capacity and ensuring food and energy security.
Affirming Viet Nam’s solidarity with Cuba, the Party official said the country stands ready to support Cuba within its capacity in overcoming challenges. He also expressed his confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC), the Cuban people will surmount difficulties and continue advancing on their chosen path.
To strengthen relations, Quyet suggested boosting delegation exchanges at all levels, improving coordination, and putting high-level agreements and existing cooperation mechanisms into action. He also emphasised implementing the cooperation agreement signed in August 2023 between the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation and the CPC Central Committee's Ideology Department, while preparing thoroughly for the 7th theoretical workshop between the two Parties to share experiences in Party building and ideological work.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat congratulated Viet Nam on the successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress, as well as the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure.
He expressed his deep impression of Viet Nam’s outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, trade, and investment, affirming that Cuba takes pride in Viet Nam’s development and the recognition from the international community for the country’s role and prestige.
He affirmed that Cuba views Viet Nam as a model in national construction and development along a socialist-oriented path.
The ambassador thanked Viet Nam for its consistent and effective support, particularly in agricultural cooperation, which has contributed to Cuba’s food security. He stressed that the solidarity and assistance from Viet Nam will always be cherished by the Cuban people.
