NA Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien attended the opening ceremony and the IPU-153 high-level general debate. At the opening ceremony, IPU Secretary General Anda Filip highlighted priorities under the IPU Strategy for the 2027-2031 period, including promoting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in global processes, advancing consultation and dialogue, and peacefully resolving international and regional disagreements and conflicts.
NA Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien held meetings with leaders of various countries. During his meeting with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba, Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed Tanzania’s plan to open an embassy in Viet Nam and called for increased exchanges of delegations, particularly high-level delegations, through Party, parliamentary and Government channels to further enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
During a meeting between Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien and Malaysian Speaker of the House of Representatives Johari bin Abdul, the two sides agreed to strengthen high-level parliamentary exchanges and exchanges between committees, while promoting exchanges among young parliamentarians, women parliamentarians and representatives of ethnic minorities.
Receiving Australian Speaker of the House of Representatives Milton Dick, Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien proposed that the two countries’ parliaments build and improve the legal framework to promote trade towards a target turnover of 20 billion USD and double investment flows within five years. He also proposed that Australia support and facilitate the stable settlement of the Vietnamese community in the country, enabling them to make positive contributions to bilateral relations.
At a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Konstantin Kosachev, Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien spoke highly of the achievements attained by the Russian Government and Federation Council, particularly in legislation, oversight and addressing major national issues. The two sides exchanged views and assessments on international and regional issues discussed within the framework of IPU-153.
Receiving Vice President of the Council of the Nation of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Mohammed Larbi Slimani, Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien proposed that the two sides strengthen high-level delegation exchanges and parliamentary cooperation, promote cooperation in oil and gas, high-tech agriculture, healthcare and science and technology, and negotiate a trade agreement to provide a foundation for trade and investment activities between the two countries.
