Recently, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria and concurrently to North Macedonia, presented the Letter of Credence from President Luong Cuong to President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
At the courtesy meeting, President Siljanovska-Davkova extended her condolences to the Vietnamese leadership and people over the serious losses caused by recent storms and floods.
Emphasising her appreciation for the good friendship between Viet Nam and North Macedonia over the past 30 years, President Siljanovska-Davkova reiterated that North Macedonia consistently respects Viet Nam’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political system.
Highlighting North Macedonia’s support for strengthening bilateral cooperation with Viet Nam at multilateral forums, President Siljanovska-Davkova stated that the two countries still have significant potential to enhance cooperation in the areas of economy, culture, education, agriculture, healthcare, and tourism, as well as emerging fields such as information technology and digital transformation. She affirmed that North Macedonia stands ready to serve as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the European and Balkan markets.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet commended North Macedonia’s socio-economic development achievements amid the volatility of the global economy and affirmed her commitment to working closely with relevant North Macedonian agencies and making every effort to promote the comprehensive development of bilateral relations in the coming time, particularly through strengthening delegation exchanges at all levels and enhancing economic–trade and scientific–technical cooperation.
On this basis, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet proposed that both sides continue to expand cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and tourism, while also affirming that Viet Nam is willing to serve as a bridge promoting relations between North Macedonia and ASEAN countries.
On the occasion of the credential presentation, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet also held meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; the Director-General of Protocol; the Director-General in charge of relations with non-EU countries; the Vice President of the North Macedonian Economic Chamber; and representatives of major corporations and enterprises such as BUSHI and BAKO.
As part of the ambassador’s working visit to North Macedonia, the Embassy of Viet Nam held an event titled “Viet Nam–North Macedonia: Strengthening Cooperation in Innovation, Trade and Cultural Exchange” in the capital city of Skopje. The event was attended by Zoran Dimitrovski, North Macedonia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, along with representatives from ministries, diplomatic missions, international organisations, businesses, and the Vietnamese community in North Macedonia.
At the event, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet highlighted Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal); affirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to promoting the traditional friendship and bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties; and stressed the great potential for cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, given Viet Nam’s implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and North Macedonia’s ongoing SMART/MK 2030 Strategy.
Deputy Minister Zoran Dimitrovski praised Viet Nam’s strong development in recent years; underscored the growing importance of the Asia–Pacific region to Europe; and reaffirmed that North Macedonia will continue to create all favourable conditions to strengthen economic–trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries, as well as maintain its support for Viet Nam at multilateral forums.
