The event was attended by Ha Thi Khiet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation; Hau A Lenh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee; representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; and delegations from China and the Philippines.
In his opening remarks, Standing Vice Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Tuan emphasised that the 2026 Viet Nam–China International Trade Fair was an important economic and diplomatic event for the province. The fair is part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s 2026 National Trade Promotion Programme.
The fair features 300 modern stalls across an area of 10,000 square metres. It brings together hundreds of reputable domestic and international businesses, spanning 250 Vietnamese booths and 50 distinctive displays from Chinese partners.
Compared with the 2025 edition, this year’s fair is larger in scale and scope, with more organisations representing sectors in which both sides excel. These include agricultural products, food, medicinal herbs, consumer goods, machinery and equipment, and handicrafts. Each product showcases the potential and advantages of its locality or business, as well as their ambition to reach wider markets in both countries.
A wide range of products under the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) programme, together with the province’s culinary specialities and distinctive agricultural produce, are being showcased at the fair. These items embody the diligence of local people and the traditional cultural identity of the province’s ethnic communities.
Strengthening connections and elevating the branding of province’s OCOP products will not only increase the value of agricultural produce and raise local people’s living standards, but also open broader sales opportunities in domestic and international markets.
Alongside the fair, a number of related activities are taking place, including talks between Tuyen Quang Province’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Bureau of Commerce of Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, as well as the Bureau of Commerce of Baise City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. A business matching conference is also being held to connect Vietnamese enterprises and trade promotion organisations with Chinese partners.
Other activities include visits to several trade and tourism development models in Tuyen Quang Province, as well as surveys of operations at border crossings, boundary markers, and border markets.
Notably, the 12th Buckwheat Flower Festival is being held, serving as a prominent cultural and tourism highlight that honours the resilient beauty of the highland blossoms and the vibrant colours of the event.
The combination of commercial and festival spaces offers visitors a rich and memorable experience while providing a strong draw for tourist and promoting bilateral tourism development links.
Through the fair, Tuyen Quang Province hopes to establish more sustainable supply chains and facilitate stronger flows of high-quality goods via paired border gates. It also aims to create a distinctive cultural highlight and open opportunities for comprehensive, long-term cooperation between Tuyen Quang and Wenshan Prefecture in Yunnan Province, as well as Baise City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.
