On the occasion of International Children’s Day (1 June), Viet Nam’s Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6, operating under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan, organised an event to provide 250 gifts to outstanding students at Banpa Primary School as well as donate various essential items to the school.

This meaningful activity was aimed at students of Banpa Primary School, one of only four schools still maintaining educational activities in the Bentiu area of South Sudan. The school has over 2,200 students but only 11 classrooms, which are temporary structures made of corrugated iron and wood. These rooms have no doors, no fans, and insufficient lighting for teaching and learning.

The students were delighted to receive the school supplies from Viet Nam’s Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6.

In addition, given the complicated developments of a local cholera outbreak, the hospital’s delegation also provided the school with hand sanitiser and soap and conducted a hygiene and disease prevention session for both teachers and students.
