Thirteen teams from seven nations and territories in Asia, including China, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia and hosts, Vietnam, are participating in the event.
The teams are divided into four groups and compete in a round robin format to determine the top eight teams to play in the semi-final round.
Thailand 1 were crowned champions at last year’s competition after beating Japan 1 in the final match.
The annual tournament, co-organised by the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, will last through April 29.
