The Vietnam Trade Office in Laos said that Vietnam’s total import and export revenue decreased in January 2023, due to the long New Year and Lunar New Year holidays, including the decrease in revenue with Laos.
In January 2023, Vietnam’s export revenue to Laos reached 27.8 million USD, down 35% over the same period in 2022 (42.8 million USD), according to statistics from the General Department of Customs.
Some export items to Laos posted sudden increases in January 2023, including vegetables, with a revenue of 1.94 million USD, up 242.2% and oil and petrol with 3 million USD in revenue, up 24.9%.
Meanwhile, the total import revenue from Laos was reported at 71.4 million USD in January 2023, down 23.8% over the corresponding period in 2022. The main imported items include corn, rubber, wood, and fertiliser.
