The draw results pit Vietnam against the defending champions and runners-up, with another team to be determined after the intercontinental playoffs.
Vietnam’s third rivals could be either Portugal, Thailand or Cameroon.
This is the first time that Vietnam have won a berth at the world’s top football tournament for women.
In the meantime, the Philippines, another team from Southeast Asia, will face co-hosts New Zealand along with Norway and Switzerland in Group A.
Prior to the draw, Vietnam’s head coach Mai Duc Chung said that all the teams at the World Cup are strong, so he regarded this tournament as an opportunity for Vietnamese players to train, learn and gain experience.
He emphasised that high achievement is out of the question now but the whole team will strive to bring the spirit of solidarity and determination into play to meet the set professional requirements.
