The 2G mobile service will be discontinued in Vietnam.

The exception is using the 2G network to transfer and receive data via machine-to-machine services or providing services in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands, Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands and DK platform areas.

In this case, the service will continue until September 15, 2026.

Mobile carriers have been asked to support their 2G subscribers in purchasing new devices that are 4G enabled and provide appropriate subscription plans.

They are also working to ensure 4G coverage can replace 2G coverage when the 2G system is discontinued.

Meanwhile, users of 2G-only devices are advised to learn about the 2G phase-out plan and switch to those that support 4G and above.
