Vietnamese gymnasts arrive in Doha for FIG Art World Challenge Cup

Nhan Dan Online – Six Vietnamese gymnasts arrived in Doha, Qatar for the three-day FIG Art World Challenge Cup 2013, which is taking place from March 27 to 29 at the Aspire Academy Dome, the world’s largest indoor sports facility.

Reigning Asian gold medalist Phan Thi Ha Thanh is the brightest star in the Vietnamese lineup, alongside experienced gymnast Hoang Cuong, and remains the country’s biggest hope for gold medal in the women’s vault event.

Vietnam has also sent four young faces to the event including Do Thi Thu Huyen, Do Thi Van Anh, Le Thanh Phuong and Dinh Phuong Thanh, aiming to give them more experience in preparation for the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar later this year.

The sixth annual gymnastics competition spotlights more than 150 athletes representing 30 countries and territories around the world, competing in six men’s categories and four women’s events for total cash prizes worth US$50,000.
