President Vo Van Thuong, his spouse Phan Thi Thanh Tam and the high-ranking delegation from Vietnam were welcomed at the airport by Chief of Protocol of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria Maximilian Hennig, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien, Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Austria Markus Kircher, and the staff of Vietnamese Embassy in Austria.
Within the framework of the visit, President Vo Van Thuong is scheduled to hold talks with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen to discuss the results of the cooperation between the two countries over the past years and devise directions in the near future. The two leaders will also witness the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between the ministries, agencies and localities from the two countries.
During his visit, President Vo Van Thuong is also scheduled to meet with President of the Federal Council Claudia Arpan and have working sessions with Mayor of Vienna and his wife, and Mayor of Burgenland state and his spouse. Vietnamese State leader will also visit the United Nations headquarters and work with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), among other activities.
As soon as he arrived in Austria, President Vo Van Thuong received the Austria-Vietnam Friendship Association, some Austrian friends and Vietnamese Ambassadors to European countries; visited Vietnam Embassy in Austria; and met with the Vietnamese community in Austria and Europe.
