Vietnamese students in Russia compete in sports

The 2022 Vietnamese Students' Sports Festival kicked off in Moscow on May 1.

After more than 2 years of hiatus, the Moscow summer sports festival is officially back. The opening ceremony features the participation of a large number of representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, Vietnamese associations in Russia, sponsors, and students from universities in Moscow and neighbouring cities.

Nguyen Viet Linh, Secretary of the Civil Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Russia, affirmed that the Vietnamese Students' Sports Festival is one of the largest annual activities of the Vietnam Youth Union in Russia.

Taking place in early May, the festival aims to celebrate major national holidays, such as National Reunification Day (April 30), Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7), and the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Tran Phu Thuan highly appreciated the efforts of the organisers, and at the same time called on all athletes, students, and young people to make valiant efforts to provide a great tournament.

The 2022 Vietnamese Students' Sports Festival in Moscow recorded a record number of 26 teams of athletes competing in men's football, women's football, athletics and tug of war, taking place on May 1, 2 and 8 at Meteor Stadium. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the football teams gave the audience many thrilling and beautiful matches.
