The team’s members include Vu Nhat Long and Vuong Ha Chi (from the Newton Secondary and High Schools), Nguyen Thanh Nhan (from Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted), and Le Gia Hong Minh, Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi and Le Tung Lam (from the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted).

They achieved the highest scores in September's selection exam for the IJSO team organised by the Hanoi Municipal Department of Education and Training.

The IJSO is an international competition for students aged 15, held alternately by the education ministries of participating countries. The contest aims to encourage students to engage with scientific knowledge early on and to open up cultural exchange opportunities among students and teachers worldwide.

In 2024, the 21st IJSO will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from December 2 to 12, with approximately 60 countries and territories expected to participate.

This is the 14th year that the Hanoi Municipal Department of Education and Training has been entrusted with organising the selection and establishment of the team. Over the past 14 IJSO competitions, from 2007 to 2023, the Hanoi IJSO team, representing Vietnam, has won 77 medals, including 16 gold medals.
