The index closed 2.79 points lower after gaining 4.63 points on August 14.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) decreased by 18.40% to 19.21 trillion VND (801.58 million USD).
Eleven blue chips gained. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail advanced 3.3% and TPB of private TPBank went up 1.9%.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange expanded by 0.40% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.03%.
